Jason Bull
Shoe Guru
Jason has been at The Running Place for the past six-and-a-half years. Along with being a shoe seller, he is also in charge of the accessories section at the front of the shop. So, if you have a favorite energy gel or running accessory, he’s the one to thank. Jason has been running for the past 32 years thanks in part to getting cut from the middle school baseball team in seventh grade. After that, he found running and never looked back.
“My first “run” was with my dad, running a mile from our home to pick up his truck at a gas station. He assumed we’d end up walking the better part of the distance, but once I started, I wanted to see if I could make it the entire way. That same mentality of challenging myself paid off well throughout the rest of my running career.”
FAVORITE RUNNING MEMORY:
“My two favorite pieces of running equipment are the ones that keep me healthy and getting out the door - my Garmin Forerunner 265 and my ElliptiGO. Dealing with nagging calf injuries for the past 6 years, figuring out where I’m at fitness-wise at any given point is a challenge. With its predictive features, the Garmin has given me a good idea of what shape I’m in at any given moment and then helped me create workouts to improve from there. On the flip side, the ElliptiGO has allowed me to supplement some of my miles, so I can get out the door every day without having to put all the pounding and stress on my body.”
“My running goals for the next couple of years are to go back to where I started, running the mile and the 5K. With two little ones, the biggest obstacle to training I have is time, so training for shorter distances allows me to focus more on the quality of training than on the quantity.”
“When I’m not at work, I’m spending time with my kids and daydreaming of warmer weather (so we can go to the shore and get back outside).”
