Fall Race Prep Starts Now
Well, we are in it folks. The warm weather is returning and all you fall racers know what that means: sweaty summer runs!
Fall racing season in these parts means running in the heat. It’s unavoidable. Whether you’re hunting a PR or doing your first ever distance run, you’ll need to train smartly.
Here are some tips to keep yourself moving in a more positive way as the temperatures get near triple digits:
- HYDRATE: This is always and will always be the key. Hydrating early and often needs to be your best friend. Imbibing H20 should be your number one priority every single day, in general, but even more so if you want to keep yourself moving safely in the heat of Summer.
- PLAN: We have all been in the situation where you need to just get in a run whenever you can; but the more you can schedule your runs for the peak times, the better. Get yourself out the door before the sun comes up, if possible. Or go after the heat breaks at night. Set yourself up for success before you take that first step.
- RECOVER: We’ll say it, recovering can be inconvenient. Maybe you need to shoehorn runs in on back-to-back days because you are going away. Or you just want to ride a high from a good run the day before. The important thing to remember is to always listen to your body. If you need a day off, take a day off. You’ll thank yourself later.
And, as always, know that we are here for you through all of this. Come chat if you have questions about your training plan or if you are in need of any gear.
Take care of yourselves and we’ll see you out on the streets.

WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR SPORTS BRA
A lot of the time, when the shop is quiet, Ann (pictured below) will go up to the sports bra section and pontificate on the incredibly difficult questions life has to offer. Just kidding! Most times she’s thinking about ‘when is the ‘right’ time to replace your sports bra’.
The short answer is: it’s complicated. You have to factor in usage and age and a whole host of different factors to figure out when a bra has lost it’s support. But the simple rule of thumb is that your sports bras shouldn’t see a second birthday.
If you have any questions or are ready to replace yours, come on in and talk to Ann or any one of our experienced bra specialists to figure out which ones are right for you!
