TRP is 25 Years Young!
March 17th marks a milestone we could not be more proud of — The Running Place turns 25!
What began in March of 2001 with a simple mantra — be welcoming to all — has grown into something truly special. When Pattie Bucaccio and Joan Osborne first opened our doors, they wanted to create a different kind of running store. One that wasn’t just for seasoned racers chasing PRs, but for teachers, nurses, service workers, walkers, first-timers, and anyone who simply needed great footwear and honest guidance. That belief became the foundation of everything we do.
Over the years, there have been changes — new partners, new chapters, and even a new home (shoutout to those who remember when our current space was D&K Appliance!). From the early days with Pattie and Joan, to the Bill and Ken years, and now with Ken leading the charge, our growth has always been fueled by this community. Expanding our space in 2014 allowed us to serve more of you, stock more of the products you love, and continue building a place where everyone feels comfortable walking through the door.
Twenty-five years later, one thing remains exactly the same: our mission. We are here to help you move forward — whether you’re training for your next race, heading out for daily walks, or simply need supportive shoes for long days on your feet.
Thank you for being part of our story. We truly wouldn’t be here without you. Here’s to 25 years — and many more miles ahead.

The Love Run is Almost Here
The Love Run is right around the corner and your favorite local running shop will have a LARGE presence again! The TRP Road Crew will take to the streets of Philly on March 29th to show up and show out for the running community. As always, we’ll have the useful amenities (like the tent to leave your stuff and the personal port-a-potty, lol) as well as a special team shirt!
