The race proceeds fund the Broomall Rotary’s local charitable service projects. \nThe Broomall Rotary’s Firecracker 5K will precede the Marple Newtown 4th of July Parade. The parade and race day is Thursday\, July 4\, 2024*. Race may be switched to a Virtual Race at the club’s sole discretion for any reason \nCourse: The 5K race course is along the parade route in front of the parade spectators. Starts on West Chester Pike at Malin Road\, proceeds west along West Chester Pike past Bryn Mawr Avenue in Newtown Sq.\, U-turn back to the starting point. SUMMARY:Swarthmore Lions Independence Eve 8K
DESCRIPTION:Description\n\n\n\n\n\nGet a jump on your Independence Day celebration and join us for the annual Swarthmore Lions Independence Eve 8K (5 mile) and 2 ½ Mile Walk. The race will be held on Wednesday\, July 3 at 7:00pm. This friendly\, small town community race draws runners from all over the Delaware Valley. The relatively flat 8K route goes through the charming\, tree-lined neighborhoods of Swarthmore. The 2 ½ Mile Walk route follows the first loop of the 8K. \nProceeds from the race support Lions charities which include organizations that assist the visually impaired such as the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Chester and the Delaware Valley Eye Bank. \nOn site registration and packet pick-up will take place in the Borough Hall lobby at 121 Park Avenue in Swarthmore from 5:00pm to 6:45pm on the day of the race. \nThe entry fee for both the race and the walk is $30 and $35 on race day. \nAwards will be presented to the first three overall male and female runners and to the first three male and female runners in 9 age groups-10 and under\, 11-13\, 14-19\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60-69\, and 70 and over. Refreshments will be served after the race. Tech t-shirts are guaranteed to all preregistered runners and walkers and while supplies last.
