DESCRIPTION:Imagine having to walk everywhere for your most basic needs. Walking to get water or firewood\, walking to see a doctor or to go to school\, walking to church or to visit your friends. That is the reality for people in rural Malawi. \nMILES FOR MALAWI is Pamoza’s annual 5K fundraiser to support programs and services that help families in rural Malawi access the basic resources they need to thrive. Come out on Saturday\, May 16th at 8:30am at Eastern University. \nDue to construction on Eastern University’s main campus\, we will be moving our event location just half a mile down the road to Eastern University’s Valley Forge Military Academy Campus (800 Radnor Road\, Wayne\, PA). \nThe good news is that Eastern recently purchased this beautiful 33-acre campus\, which gives us even more space for our event. This opens up exciting possibilities for an even better race day experience\, so we’re encouraging everyone to invite even more friends and family to join.  Learn more about this campus expansion plan. \nWalk or run with your family and friends on this beautiful campus. This is a rain or shine event! \nThe communities Pamoza serves have no running water\, no electricity\, and very few basic resources. Out of the 45\,000 people in Pamoza’s service area\, fewer than 5 families have a car. That means nearly everyone walks. \nMILES FOR MALAWI connects people and their families in the U.S. with people and their families in Malawi by highlighting the distances people in Malawi have to walk for basic resources. Funds raised through the 5K help families in rural Malawi have enough to eat\, support their children’s educational needs\, get access to medical care\, gain necessary skills to make a living\, and have the opportunity to hear the Gospel from Pamoza staff who work individually with each family. \nYour support offers families in rural Malawi: \n\nScholarships for high school or college\nEconomic opportunities to generate income\nHealth care and medicine at our community clinic\nAgricultural training to grow enough food for all year\nOpportunities to learn about God through Christian outreach\n\nPamoza believes in a holistic approach to meet the needs of the families we serve. We not only tackle hunger and poverty; we also address spiritual transformation – helping people have a relationship with God and with each other. \nFamily Pack \nIf you are registering as a family\, you can select the Family Pack at the bottom of the registration form for Multi-Person Pricing (maximum of 4 people). \nTeams \nIf you are creating a team\, you can do so during registration process.  Choose a team name.  Teams must consist of at least 10 people.  As a team leader\, you can use discount code – TEAMCAP26 for a complementary ticket but you must then recruit 10 people who sign-up and join your team. \nRegistration \nEarly Bird registration is as follows – February 1 – March 15\, 2026: \nFree – ages 5 and under\n$20 – ages 6 -18\n$30 – Adults  \nRegistration increases March 16 – May 15\, 2026: \nFree – ages 5 and under\n$30 – ages 6 -18\n$40 – Adults  \nPlease note: on-site registration will be an additional $10.

DESCRIPTION:Place\nARLINGTON CEMETERY\n2900 State Road\nDrexel Hill\, PA US 19026\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT BRAD SCHOENER\nBrad Schoener was a music director in the Upper Darby School District for 25 years. He lost a courageous battle to leiomyosarcoma cancer in 2009\, but not before having an incredibly positive impact on the lives of countless students\, colleagues\, and friends. Brad was loved wherever he went and helped mold the future paths of thousands of children through his passion for music and his ability to bring out that passion in his students. \n\nTHE BRAD SCHOENER FUND\nProceeds from the 5K Run support the Brad Schoener Memorial Music Fund and its MusicMan Academy programs. The mission of Brad’s Fund is to support the musical abilities and aspirations of instrumental music students in the Upper Darby School District through the funding of instruments\, instruction\, and experiences for interested and talented students who might not otherwise have the opportunities due to personal circumstances. Brad’s Fund is supported by the Upper Darby Arts & Education Foundation. \n\nWE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU IN 2026!\nYou can still register the day of the race (t shirts are not guaranteed)! \nIf you registered already and you are ready to pick up your race bib & swag bag\, please park your car for free at Drexel Hill Middle School or the Kindergarten Center and look for the tent on Arlington Field behind the Arlington Mansion (Toppitzer Funeral Home)! Our race check-in/bib pick-up process begins at 7:30 am on Saturday\, May 16th. \nWe will kick off the day’s festivities at 8:15 am and “Warm Up with the Y!” stretching with professional YMCA trainers and getting those muscles ready to run! Then – join the fun at 8:30 am as we hold the 3rd Annual “Inflatable Fun Run” as the UDSD School Teams compete to win the Schoener School Spirit Award!  As always — look for some surprises during our pre-race festivities! Families are encouraged to complete the 5K or the 1 Mile Spirit Walk together and then… we have SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE as we celebrate our 15th year of keeping Brad Schoener’s wishes alive for Upper Darby children. As always – be ready to hear LIVE MUSIC along the 5K route – drumlines\, bagpipes\, brass ensembles\, ukulele circle\, Delaware County Flute Choir\, Upper Darby Shooting Stars… and MORE! \nEnjoy Food and refreshments by Federal Donuts & Chicken onsite throughout race day. Then\, head on over and enjoy a FREE drink (21+) at our post race celebration sponsored by Artillery Brewing Company! \nThe MusicMan 5K is known for its unique finisher medals – actual working mini-harmonicas! Age Group awards are given (full size harmonicas) and Overall Male/Female race winners receive 14K gold plated harmonicas! It’s a very musical finish!
